Malaya Porattala
Singers: Biz Mac, Hyde Karty, Tipu
Lyrics: Viveka
Predominantly a hard rock composition which works well with its
orchestration as long as it sticks to the heavy riffage and drumming.
But the vocal melody and the instrumental feel a bit detached from each
other and results in the song falling short of what it aimed to be.
Enna Marandhaen
Singers: Madhushree
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar
The best song of the album comes in the shape of a beautiful melody
composed in Madhyamavati and sung with conviction by Madhushree. The
track has almost everything going right about it. It begins well with a
bit of a tease and then grows into something that’s mostly fulfilling,
be it in terms of singing or orchestration.
Ranga Ranga
Singers: Rita
Lyrics: Mani Amudhavan
A rather playful tune which assumes different textures and the track
does demand a few listens to get accustomed to the progression and
changes. Rita’s singing and the rhythm section in particular stand out
as the highlights and the song could have used a few more such
highlights.
Thanimayilae
Singers: Anand Araviddakshan, Nivas
Lyrics: Viveka
This sad song based on Keeravani/Natabhairavi (Harmonic Minor in
Western Classical) scale is soft in instrumentation but heavy on
emotions. The minimalistic approach gives room for a fine vocal
performance and the strings build up steadily but in strength and its
intensity is backed by the vocalists.
Lovulla
Singers: C.Sathya
Lyrics: Viveka
A light hearted and peppy folk based tune which is driven by a strong
rhythm section and the overall arrangement is quite impressive too.
Composer Sathya takes the responsibility of delivering the vocals for
this one and he hits the target.
Idhuthaan
Singers: Balram
Lyrics: Pudhiyadhoar Kavignan Seivom Team
The album closer is a short heart rendered composition that’s backed well lyrically and sung effectively by Balram.
Verdict: With music director Sathya emphasizing more on the vocals, the album has two tracks to watch out for.
